Well, lucky for me, I don't actually care what people like you say. It's my time, I'll spend it on whatever I want. If what I want coincides with what you want, lucky you. If not, though cookie.
Why not the ... was it Viz? The official translation? I would guess, the fact that you would have to type it up first tipped the scales? Or it goes beyond that?
Not to mention that Hiryuu used the official translation as a base for the second half of the show anyway. And a lot of the first half was edited with the offical subs as a reference.
This is someone who doesn't give a crap about fancy encoding settings and just cares about watching anime normally, NOT frame by frame so he can analyze the refracting light of the inner lines of the table.
Hey, Dmon, if I give you a list of script errors and fixes for the missing word or typo here and there (or, if you want... patches), would you mind making v2s for the batch when it's all done? I mean, even if you just look at Hiryuu's website, you'll see a lot of these pointed out in the comments. The subs are very good overall, so it'd be a shame to knowingly archive and distribute all those niggles.
If you are willing to correct those yourself, make patches and send them to me, I would use them. But I would only wait one week after I release the final volume before I release the batch.
Dude, no offense, but I though you would be presenting translation corrections, not grammar. I'm sorry, but I have no interest in correcting the grammar.
Not just the grammar but the missing words and typos? I mean, the second-last line in the entire show dropped a turd on us: "You may be my bother, but it's fine as long as we're in love." That's despite the releases being pretty clean and very good otherwise. To be honest the other things noted were very minor in comparison and were just pointed out because I already had the file open.
But I can see how my original words would cause a misunderstanding. No problem. I should have been more specific, and it's good that we sorted this out sooner rather than later. Though really, if it's a matter of fixing translation errors rather than just some typos, missing words, and a few bad commas or so--i.e. stuff that anybody could fix and that much more of the audience could notice--I'm not sure I'd trust somebody random like me to do a better job than the original team.
As for the specials, they have lots of scene bleeds and other timing issues, more errors in grammar and spelling than I noted above in my first glance, major inconsistencies with voicing compared to main episode subs, and so on. I'll take your word on the translation.
If your prerogative is to focus on getting stuff released without regard to encoding with a bit more effort or time, fixing obvious mistakes, swapping Balloon Vine for Heartseed in Kokoro (okay, that's a matter of taste), etc., that's up to you. I'm not even sure if I'd disagree, if that means that you release more shows rather than fewer of them. Have a good day.
Uh, if some people still want to see these things fixed, I'll still do it and post unofficial patches if you want, even if DmonHiro doesn't want or use them. I don't want to back out on anything I agreed to do, even if it was just a misunderstanding.
Hey man, if you want to use your free time to correct those things, more power to you. But you must realize that most people won't actually notice it, and many of those who do notice, don't care. I used to be like you, but then learned that I was wasting my time. Still, it's your free time, feel free to use it any way you like.
Also, my prerogative is to release good stuff, not perfect. If some typos are left in, too bad. If there's scene bleeds, while I do try to avoid them, it's unfortunate. Few grammar mistakes, no problem. The only thing that, in my opinion, warrants a v2 script is a translation error. And a it had to be a big one, as in giving a total different meaning to a line.
Yeah, I understand where you're coming from, especially with respect to v2s, but I don't personally agree. We'll leave it at that.
That said, if it's mostly a matter of what's worth v2s (and not what's worth the effort), then episodes 9-12 haven't been released... if you get what I mean. I guess this is a litmus test; I'm wondering where the threshold is. Will you be a brother and bother changing "bother" to "brother"?
Ep 12 Dialogue: 0,0:24:00.16,0:24:04.00,Default,Brocon,0,0,0,,You may be my bother, but it's fine as long as we're in love.
Thanks for the releases and entertaining me—and I mean that in two different meanings of the word.
@Anonymous Just going to say, don't bother making patches for this release. There are others coming that actually bother to fix things that you pointed out as well as a number of other issues.
Is there a point in not having distracting typos in every episode and having typesetting that isn't broken? And encodes that were properly filtered and cropped? Or special subs where every line makes sense and has the same tone for the characters that the original subs had? Well, I'd like to think there is, but I suppose I can see why someone might not... actually, no I can't. Maybe it's just me being a perfectionist, but I'd much rather have a release with no problems, especially on a show like this where that isn't even hard to do, than a release with all the issues stated above.
Then feel free to make it yourself. The things you call distracting, I don't even notice, excepts when the typesetting is REALLY broken. Yes, it's just you being a perfectionist. And no, I don't care about fixing things that are not a problem for me.
Not sure if this is on my part or something in the video but for some reason in episode 10 it seems to stall for a bit @22:10 right after the scene with the main cast, in where it cuts to the editor.
I'm using MPC with CCCP and I got a slight stall but when I watched the scene using VLC Player the scene plays smoothly without any stalling
I re-encoded the video into 8bit with Handbrake and watched the scene on MPC and it did play smoothly
Damn well I guess it's on my part. Well I'll have to settle for 8 bit for only that episode which is strange since all the other episodes play at 10 bit
Or...you could finish Sora no Otoshimono S2 ?
ReplyDeleteread what it says under status
DeleteAnd what's keeping you from finishing Windy Tales ?
Delete"13 in a week" "holiday stuff. Didn't have time."
Don't get me wrong, it's nice to pick up a lot of series, but at least finish them before beginning something else.
Well, lucky for me, I don't actually care what people like you say. It's my time, I'll spend it on whatever I want. If what I want coincides with what you want, lucky you. If not, though cookie.
DeleteTL;DR: I don't care about your opinion.
Thank you for being awesome
DeleteWhy not the ... was it Viz? The official translation? I would guess, the fact that you would have to type it up first tipped the scales? Or it goes beyond that?
ReplyDeleteNo, the Viz subs were fine, but I have Hiryuu, and they are equally fine. Plus, that's how I watched it.
DeleteNot to mention that Hiryuu used the official translation as a base for the second half of the show anyway. And a lot of the first half was edited with the offical subs as a reference.
Delete^ Really? Didn't know, that's good.
Delete@DmonHiro
Oh, so as expected. Not that I wasn't going to start saving up this release for archiving purposes anyway.
I'm pleased and amused by your releases. Keep it up DmonHiro, very much appreciated.
ReplyDeletePleases, I understand, but amused?
DeleteThank you and have fun giving as funny stuff to watch. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Dmon
ReplyDeleteNice. Thanks. ;]
ReplyDeletePlease say this is not ordered chapterd.
ReplyDeleteIt's not.
Deleteref3 subme7 b-adapt1, what is this I don't even
ReplyDeleteThis is someone who doesn't give a crap about fancy encoding settings and just cares about watching anime normally, NOT frame by frame so he can analyze the refracting light of the inner lines of the table.
DeleteIt's a bit of a shame is all. Higher-precision encodes look better at scenes harder to compress, that's just a given.
DeleteI'm guessing you didn't touch Hiryuu's not-so pretty dialog styling for this show?
ReplyDeleteNo, I have no problem with it.
DeleteThe NCED had a few pixels of blank at the top for half the scenes, was there a reason you didn't crop them out?
ReplyDeleteYeah. I didn't notice. I don't have a 16/9 monitor.
DeleteS2 @ 2:48
ReplyDelete"But I'm not really sure aout that method."
Possible typo?
Yeah, pretty much.
DeleteWhen will the vol 3 and 4 be released?
ReplyDeleteNever!!!!
DeleteNever ever again! xd
DeleteThanks for Vols. 3-4.

Deletek, it's on then. I'll get it done through Vol. 4 in a few days at most; for the rest, it'll be shortly after you release them.
DeleteMaybe I should revise my ETA, seeing as I'm not going to keep up this pace, but I'm through three episodes and a special.
DeletePatches are coming later, but here are the notes for changes (some minor, some not):

It's just a typo, so no, it's not the effort to correct.

And here I thought BD releases were suppose to be definitive releases.
You thought wrong. What I release is first and foremost for my own personal use.
DeleteI just share it with everyone else as well.
