Takato loves Digimon. He loves it so much that he even made up his own Digimon: Guilmon. He drew it and everything. One day though a miracle happened. Gilmon came to life, straight out of the drawing. How is this possible? Well, it turns out that Digimon are real. And now they’re making their way into the real world. Problem is most of them are not so peaceful. But would you be calm if you were suddenly teleported into a different world? Keep in mind that most Digimon are basically wild animals. It’s up to Takato and his new friends to try and keep the peace, as Digimon Tamers. But that’s not as easy when you not only have to watch out for wild Digimon but also for a shadowy government agency that is hell bent on destroying any Digimon that appears in the real world.
Holy damn, is this show good! I don’t mean it’s a good Digimon anime.
I mean it’s a good anime, period. Almost everything about this anime is
fantastic, except the animation sometimes (thank you, TOEI, as usual).
The characterization is some of the best I’ve ever seen in anime, and
the story is gripping. It’s also the bleakest of the Digimon anime, in
my opinion. It threw its share of gut punches out of nowhere, let me
tell you. Also… love Cthulhu Mythos much, mister writer, Chiaki J.
Konaka? You can tell he wrote Serial Experiments Lain. If you like
Digimon. Watch this. If you don’t like Digimon, also watch this.
