At least according to AniDB, E-D has used Blu-Rays before; they've just encoded them at 480p. Besides, Chaos; Head has been done in higher res by various other groups like Anime-Supreme, TheChaosLegion, Forge, and BluDragon.

DeleteRe: Himitsu: Check nyaa, there are some 720p HDTV raws out there. Though there's no guarantee they aren't crappy station upscales. Being a 2008 show, I don't think it has a Blu-Ray release, as DVD-only releases were the norm back then.

DeleteAlso, about 720p... I'm that kind of guy too and I want to mention that I did Blood-C BD's 720p... the torrent is on nyaa now, only that because I'm not an encoder my project uses others encodes (see torrent for details), but the subtitles were perfectly done for a BD project.
Anyway, this just so people now there's a 720p version out there too. So, please consider doing Sacred Seven BD DmonHiro!
Got a little excited about that, untill I saw that you used Doki subs. You say you TLCed them, so I guess that's better then nothing, but that was a poor choice never the less.
DeleteI don't know why everyone says that. I also had Underwater's subs for it and while checking and fixing Doki's I also compared some lines with Underwater's; I found the latter more difficult to understand... Doki's was far better in my view, for "Blood-C" that is.

Well, no, your release is actually great. I'm just saying that it was probably a lot of work going through all of the Doki scripts, because Doki usually has pretty bad editing.

Yeah their script was awckward at some points but I don't know if there's more to say about it because I really have no experience in this kind of stuff... Blood-C was my first real project, because the other one, Kami-sama no memo cho, has EveTaku's v2 batch which I skimmed and found ok.

ReplyDeleteUnless you know Japanese, you have no right to talk. The only fansubs ever released was horribly translated, and did in fact leave out the majority of the plot for the second half. The actual story is fairly explained.

ReplyDeleteI do not know whether you still visit this topic, however, it is I who requested for you to do Sokyuu No Fafner - Dead Aggressor - Heaven And Earth. Regarding this matter, I downloaded the subs for this particular movie yesterday and because it is said that there were a few missing lines and timing issues, I thought I could fix this myself. Unfortunately, my Japanese is not that good as I can only understand simple sentences as well as it is my first time timing the scripts myself. The only subs which exist is the FYOU version, and the translation is not as good as it should be. I did my best correcting a few errors and the likes but I can't say that the result is good. I wonder why nobody is interested in doing the BDs as the series itself was really good, and the movie seems very promising. I thought I should inform you, but it is up to you to decide whether to the the BDs for this particular show, however I really hope that you'll reconsider on doing it. If you want the edited subs that I made, then I am willing to share it with you.
